Evolution of
Entertainment
Today’s guests and patients no longer rely on linear TV schedules. They travel with their own content—Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, and Spotify. To meet modern expectations, commercial properties must bridge the gap between personal devices and the big screen.
Streaming vs.
Casting
While often used interchangeably, these two terms represent two very different options for Bulk properties.
Streaming (OTT Apps): The streaming apps (like Netflix) are installed directly on the Smart TV or Set-Top Box. Users log in with their credentials on the TV itself.
Casting (BYOC): "Bring Your Own Content." Users use their mobile devices to "push" content to the TV. The TV doesn't require a login; it simply acts as a display for the phone’s stream.
Delivering the Experience
For Casting, there are two common paths to deliver services. As experts, we ensure every solution adheres strictly to the "Security First" Rule.
Commercial Smart TVs
Built-in Chromecast or AirPlay capabilities designed specifically for hospitality (e.g., LG Pro:Centric or Samsung LYNK Cloud).
External Casting Decoders
Small devices (like a Chromecast for Hospitality) hidden behind existing non-smart TVs to add functionality.
Security First Rule
In a commercial setting, never use consumer-grade casting hardware. Commercial systems feature "Automatic Data Clearing" to protect user privacy after they leave.
Industry Specific Needs
Hospitality Focus
For hoteliers, it’s about the "Frictionless Stay." The goal is to keep it simple for the guests. A single QR code scan for casting and streaming makes things easy. Being able to watch the content you want, when you want without the stress is paramount and easily achievable with today’s commercial equipment.
Healthcare Focus
In healthcare, entertainment is a tool for recovery. Casting and streaming allow patients to watch familiar content on their schedule, which can lower heart rates and reduce perceived pain. Systems must be compatible with pillow speakers, nurse call, and integrated with Hospital Information Systems (HIS) for patient education videos.
